It's a doggy dog world

Today, my 175-pound rottweiler I've raised since a puppy watched me get jumped and robbed of my phone and money in my yard. An hour later, he hopped the fence and chased the mail man down the street after he leaned on the fence for a second. FML

Everyone knows the mailman is the dogs arch-nemesis

You can't rely on your dog to protect you, when it comes down to it, they're probably just as scared and confused as you are in that situation, no matter how big and scary they look!

I often wonder if some just smell great to dogs... in a non-food way; I'm sorry your dog was no help during your time of trouble. But look at this way... at least your assailant couldn't sue you for not controlling your dog :)

A rottweiler protects it's territory, not owner as a rule. You want personal protection, there are other dogs for that.

Rottweilers are not actually bred for being guard dogs. The were used to pull sledges by the Romans.

Actually they were bred to protect farmers/butchers with their livestock and money.

First of all set up an electric fence an watch stupid people get razed it will make muggers think twice about trying to get into your house or mugging you and about your dog it's weird but the bigger the breed I have noticed are more scared than little dogs and you might have to pay attention to the mail man....I found out the hard way that the reason my mom and grandfathers dogs hated the mail man cuz he enjoyed hitting them with his mail bag for no reason and he would try to slam the fence door on any part of the dogs he could

if you complain while being robbed, making noises like he hurts you, then I think the dog would react, or if the man hit you. but the dog don't understand you handing over your wallet and phone. Our dog reacts when I fight my sister (haha) she gets inbetween us and try to seperate us, even if we are playing. but if we argue, she won't do anything, because she can't understand that.

We have a 150lb German blockhead rotty and he's the sane. exact. way. He acts all big and bad when he sees or hears something he isn't used to, but if we are standing outside smoking and he is inside he cries and whines and wants outside. When we let him out and go back in, he cries and wants right back inside. He's really just a big baby, his name is Zeus. He gives me kisses when I ask :)

At the breeder where we got my puppy some of the males were up there in weight because they were huge and muscular. Gotta love rotties! Mine is a German Rottweiler too

They are an absolutely beautiful breed! Zeus has a beautiful mahogany color with his black. But i think the thing I like best about the breed is their trotting characteristic!

German-rott love! I have a three month old monster. In the four weeks I've had him he's more than doubled in size going from a little 8 pound fuzzball in my pic to a 20 pound.. well he's still a little fuzzball. :)

well it's not the dogs fault!

I have a Rottweiler puppy and she goes after anyone if they act suspicious at all but if we say "no bite" she stops

If you need an animal to protect you your ass deserves to be robbed.
