My wife is breastfeeding at the moment. It's hard being a mother.
My wife got told the same at the hospital when our last kid was born. She made this former sailor blush when she “explained” to the nurse and eventually the hospitals administrator why the nurses and hospital were wrong to say it.
To paraphrase from “A Christmas Story”, let’s just say “ in the heat of discussing it, my wife wove a tapestry of obscenity that as far as I know, is still hanging over Lake Michigan”. (Yes I live near Lake Michigan) I never heard her use that much profanity, and trust me, I have made her mad hundreds of times and never got her that riled up.
Ignore them. I had three kids and was unable to produce anything for more than a week due to reduction surgery years prior. F them all and stay away from toxic humans like that. The amount of times I told off nasty women and even doctors during my third child is too high. Surgery or not, some women DO NOT PRODUCE. Pumping, Fennel seed, non-stop liquids. Hell, even if you just don't want to. That's your choice and you can do whatever road you wish for your baby. You don't have to ever give a reason. Fed is best. End of discussion.
I couldn't agree more
Fed is best, period. You are not lesser for producing less or no milk. You would not be lesser if you just decided to formula feed due to pain or discomfort or something like that. Never believe anyone who suggests otherwise. I would even go as far as to say, "Let those people know they have facts incorrect and hate in their heart" but like you don't owe them that, or anything.
Screw them! Is your child being fed? Formula is just fine. Lots of reasons a person can't nurse.
don't listen to the hurtful comments from ignorant people. fed is best, period. not being able to produce milk doesn't make you any less of a mother, it's something that happens and it's beyond your control. You're doing wonderful, mommy.
don't even give those people the time of day! you are doing whats best for your baby and you are a good mom. I've had 4 kids, I only nursed my first for not even 2 months and got the side eye from people when I gave her formula, I nursed my second baby for 3.5 years and got crap from people then too, third and 4th babies were nursed for about 10 months. all my kids are happy and healthy and they all try and eat the damn gum from under a table at restaurants weather they were formula fed or breastfed lol. you're doing just fine!
