Today, my dad got angry with me for not watching "Better Call Saul" with him, because he thinks it will help me with law school. He did this while I was actually reading for a class taught by the top health law professor in the country. FML

At least you're not studying to be a chemistry teacher.

He's right, I watched a lot of Murder, She Wrote as a kid and now am a world famous author, homicide detective and qualified old lady.

In fairness to my dad, my entire family is guilty of this, even if only to a lesser extent. I spent this past holiday season explaining to my bewildered family that "How to Get Away with Murder" is not an accurate representation of law student life, even if you remove all of the murders from the show equation.

I understand how this goes OP, my mom berated me for not watching Ex Machina with her since I'm minoring in engineering

I think "Better Call Saul" is a good example of how NOT to be a lawyer. Great show though

'tis the mark of the unwise to talk about what they don't know. in agreeing with you, not your dad. the top professor seems to know what he's doing.

why didn't u watch it u won't learn anything exept it's entertaining

Then you better call saul to resolve this.

Hey OP. I don't know if your dad was rrally mad about thr show itself... he might have wanted to just spend time with you and watching Saul was his way of connecting with an important aspect of your life. So the "anger" may have been caused, what he perceived, as not wanting to spend time with him.

Probably just wants to spend some time with you and says it as a joke . Hey I have no idea how to be a lawyer and I watched the first season which I enjoyed with my dad so maybe it's just a reach out for bonding ?

So update: my dad said that the reason he wanted me to watch the episode was because it related to a health law topic. In fairness to him, it did, and I told him that if that's the case, we can watch the show when I have free time on the weekends. We worked out a happy medium, and the people who were commenting that it seemed like he wanted to spend time with me seem to be right. I feel good knowing that we managed to talk this out.

Glad it worked out OP. You only get one dad so cherish what time you have with him =)
