Losing

By unemployed and bereaved - 25/11/2013 05:03 - United Kingdom

Today, my boss claimed that I've been lying to get days off because apparently nobody can be so unlucky as to have three family members die within a month. I'm just that unlucky, and suspended. FML

Just show him their death certificates, that'll shut him up. I'm sorry for your loss. All of them.

Not knowing whole situation makes this a little more difficult. I can understand skepticism about three deaths so close together. However, that supervisor ought to have pulled OP aside privately and politely requested some kind of evidence, and shouldn't have been accusatory nor suspended OP until OP had a reasonable chance to deal with their personal stuff and get copies of the death certs. my $.02

Sorry for your losses OP. my grandpa passed away yesterday ik how you feel.

Show him the death crtificates and maybe take legal action. Yes it is unlikely for three deaths to occur so close each other but he should not have suspended you before you had a chance to give him prove. And sorry for your losses :(

FYL: that would be suspicious, yes, but bring in the death certificates or obituaries as proof.

Take it up with HQ. Show them the death certificates. And get back pay for the days you could have worked but couldn't because your boss was an ass. On the other note, I am so sorry about your family OP. That is really unlucky to lose three of your family members in a month. But heads up OP it will get better.

you should get public records to prove it. I get how your boss would think you were lying, but he is wrong. and i am sorry for your losses!

How insensitive, if that was me I'd probably send a raging email or text saying stuff your job, what have you got to lose!

I'm sorry 5o hear that your boss in an insensitive asshole at the time when sensitivity is what you need the most. I've been there too and my asswipe of a boss asked for a copy of death certificate.
