Today, I learned that my "Cash back rewards" for credit card purchases are mailed with the monthly statement. The same monthly statement that goes straight into the shredder or fireplace because I prefer to do my banking online. FML

Ummm bank cards don't put cash in envelopes.

That's because they are inanimate objects.

No, but the people that print the statement and mail the envelope will put a check in there for the person receiving it.

Hello! If the envelope has the name/logo of ur CC probably a good idea to open it. Other mail for which u don't have a CC throw THAT away

My CC statement doesn't have a CC logo on it. Just sayin'...

No,not true. I worked for a credit card company and you can redeem them online.your statement just tells you how many you have.

This is why we look before we leap... or shred in this case I suppose. YDI all the way.

This fml made me wish I could click ydi multiple times and actually have it work. ALWAYS open mail from any business you have an account with. Also, read the terms and conditions. That way you know to look for the check in the mail. And like somebody said earlier, you won't know about any changes just by looking at your transactions online. You're probably the same person who would go in saying you were never told about the new fee on your account even though it was on your statement, they sent a letter and e-mail, they tried calling you and told you about it in person but you weren't paying attention.

No big deal...A lot of my $ goes up in smoke too...

You know they call it "cash" back rewards for a reason. Read the fine print or it will bite you in the ass every time.

My "cash back rewards" on my credit card does not come in the form of cash. They tally how much I've spent on my card over the year, work out a certain amount according to what I've spent, and deposit x number of dollars onto my card in the form of a credit. For example, if I earned $20 in cash back rewards and I had no balance on my card at the beginning of the year, the credit would be on there so that I can spend $20 and it won't come out of my own pocket. It's not necessarily always cash.

that was one if the most stupid fml I hv ever read. where there's Money involve, u cannot be THAT careless!
