What, do you want to end up living in a Communist* dystopia like Canada, Germany, France or the UK? Where everyone has access to healthcare, unlike in The Greatest Country in the World (Trademark owned by the GOP) where 20% of the population doesn't? Is that what you want? Crazy left wingers, amirite? *Ironically, the right uses that word extremely liberally.
even in Canada plenty of things arent covered, at least in Ontario. Dental, most medications (friends Dad paid out of pocket for alot of his cancer treatment, unsure which parts hut was almost 10k a month until he retired), eye care, and a large number of other things I hear people complain in passing are not covered. so while better than the U.S. it is far from perfect... but we get to live better knowing we won't die from immediate things, only long drawn out health problems.
You do have your freedom, right? Check! You want the freedom to pay twice as much for healthcare that has worse outcomes. That is liberty in action!
You're being sarcastic, but I suggest you look into the work of philosopher Robert Nozick. It's this kind of BS argument all around, that so long as a transaction happens between two individuals without physical duress, then it's all fair and we live in the best of all dystopian worlds. Huzzah for libertarianism!
I'm terribly sorry to hear that! I'm norwegian myself, and some years ago I was in a car accident that resulted in me having to stay between six and seven months in hospital + a year and a half of treatment after I was discharged, and I didn't pay a penny, because all this is covered by the government. I'd say it's an example to follow...
Health care isn’t a right. You don’t have the right to require that someone else provide for your needs. Consider the job that government does with public education, the VA, Amtrak, border security, cost control and using available funds efficiently, and then ask yourself if you really want those bureaucrats to manage your healthcare.
You do realise that it's everyone paying for everyone, right? You participate in the national effort for yourself and the others, and they participate for themselves and the others. What's wrong with you american people? And if it were only the system, but the prices! Healtcare shouldn't be a free market. Some meds cost 10x what they cost in France. No wonder why you don't want to share the money with such expensive prices.
