Mismanagement

Today, my parents accidentally bounced some checks through a miscommunication. They now owe the bank $700 and can't afford groceries, which means we're relying on me, a 17-year-old girl who works at McDonald's 2 days a week, to get us by for the next few weeks. FML

this girl is 17, she shouldn't HAVE to worry about taking care of her family. When you're a child, you're family takes care of you. I'm not saying that she shouldn't help in this situation, but she shouldn't be viewed as bratty for being slightly frustrated at the situation.

It It sucks that you have to take responsibilty for your parents' mistake but on the other hand you should be proud of yourself for being able to take care of the family in a crisis! Go you!

Oh nooo, you must have missed the part where OP is 17, works at McDonalds and is most likely in school. Wow, you've helped your family with thousands of dollars, but at the age of 17 most kids her age don't have thousands just laying around. It's her parents responsibility and not hers. If she has money to help she can, if not local food banks for a couple weeks will do them just fine.

Come on dude is just once they can solve that issue your acting like your doing you're doing what your parents did for you for 17 years

They decided to have a child, op did not decide to have them. They chose the responsibility of caring for another person, she didn't decide to care for two people. Them taking care of and raising op was 100% their choice and their responsibility as parents, so don't ******* try to pull that bullshit.

right ^ I'm sorry to hear but hey you got this ! text your limits after all , life is all about work , and school ;)

Check out the local food banks in your area. With any luck you can get enough supplies to tide you over for a few weeks. Also sometimes local charities will cover a bill or two for a family in need. See if St. Vincent de Paul serves your area (they are in multiple cities across us). Good luck!

All you people saying that OP shouldn't be complaining can shut the hell up. She's 17. She's most likely still in school and if that isn't enough to worry about she now has to support her whole family because of a mistake her parents made. She's only 17, she shouldn't have to have the stress and worry of having to support her whole family. So everyone can get a life and stop hating on this poor girl who now has to worry about being able to feed her family with whatever money she does make. I'm

I'm sorry to have to go through this OP. Hopefully this mess will be sorted out soon and hopefully your parents know not to make this mistake again. Good luck with everything OP! *

I hope you got it in writing with their signatures first that they'll pay you back.
