Named and shamed

By unwanted - 01/04/2020 05:00 - Canada

Today, I discovered that my cool, unique first name translates to "unwanted" in Hindi. Both my parents studied abroad in India for five years. FML

My family has Jewish ancestry. My name translates in Hebrew to black sheep. I lived up to it.

So now you know... or maybe 5 years weren't enough to understand the subtility of the language because most indians speak english so they had no real reason to learn hindi...

You should enlist. You won’t need them anymore

Hey,, just because you were unwanted then, doesn't mean you are now! Things and people change.

Sounds like your parents spend more time studying the karma sutra instead of their school work 😂🤣

Good thing your parents didn't study abroad in England! Then, there would be no mystery what your name meant!

Perhaps they just liked the sound of the word\name and figured that since they don't live in a country where that is the main language, then it would be okay to use. Sometimes people read too much into a name - did you ASK them why they chose it?
