Today, I was in a work meeting because our clientele is unhappy with our service. I was in there because I don't correct our customers when they get my name wrong. My name is Blane, but "Blair", "Blake", "Lane", and "Glenn" got rave reviews. No one picked up on this. I hate my job. FML

Today, I found out that I’ve been greeting a coworker by the wrong name for six weeks. The worst part? They never corrected me because they thought it was funny, especially because it turns out to be their mom's name. FML

Foot in mouth syndrome

Today, I had an interview for a pretty interesting job. Everything was going smoothly until I referred to their company by the wrong name, not once, but three times. They politely corrected me each time, but I could see the resentment in their eyes, especially because it was the name of their main competitor. I probably won't be getting the job, huh? FML

Today, while working in a customer service call center, a customer berated me for using a fake name. He said my name is "too stupid" to be real and that no sane person would ever use it. It was my real name. FML

Today, a co-worker superior to me called me "Stephanie" yet again. My name is Ashley. I politely informed her that my name is Ashley and subtly pointed to my work ID. Later, I get called into my supervisor's office. I got written up for correcting someone of higher status than me. FML

Today, I told a customer the bread he wanted has been discontinued. He replied with, "Are you serious? What is your name? I'm going up front to complain about you." I still don't understand how that's specifically my fault. FML

Today, while at work, a customer refused to speak louder, despite me asking her to do it several times. As a result, I took her order incorrectly. The customer then finally decided to raise her voice, but only to yell at me about my poor listening skills. FML

Today, I was so nervous introducing myself to my new team, I actually mispronounced my own name, badly, and now that’s how everyone refers to me, but again, I’m too nervous to correct anyone. It’s been a week already, so correcting them now would be extra weird. FML

I'm sorry to hear that, Gary. Anyways, Blair, Blake, Lane and Glenn have been doing such a good job, they have all been promoted and you are now their assistant. Now, you have to get breakfast, lunch and coffee for these guys, pick up their dry cleaning and buy birthday presents for their little snot-nosed kids. Just be happy they kept you on when those other four guys were so much better than you. Get back to work, Brian.

You mean that you actually have co-workers with those names or you just let non-existent people take credit for your work? And why did you let other "people" take credit for your work anyway? I can understand not correcting a customer, but when it comes to the office, get a backbone and speak up, man. YDI.

Well tell your bosses the rules your trying to follow, bring the handbook of rules or something. Show that handbook to them and look like a badass while doing it.
