Career choice? Not to be rude, but there's actually enough need for poets that you can support yourself on it? I always thought it was more of an artistic hobby for people. That would be amazing for you to get to do something you truly love! Anyway, maybe your poetry was too complex for him to wrap his head around. Instead of getting mad at him though, why not have a discussion about what he liked/didn't like about your poetry? You could use it as a learning experience to gauge how well-received your poetry will be with the rest of your public audience.
It was rude of him to say that to you, but you should never try to force yourself to write something, such as a poem. You can't write a poem the way another person wants it because that's just not how poetry works. Next time someone asks you to do that, just politely decline because even if it's a wonderful poem, they're probably not going to be happy with how it turned out.
maybe you should rethink about him.
She's only one person, imagine if every famous writer just gave up because of one persons comment. You can't please everyone.
It takes you hours to write a poem? And it wasn't even good?
Maybe you should cater to your audience better.
I want to hear OPs poem
He probably isn't the best judge! Don't sweat it :)
Maybe you should rethink your bf choice.

Some people just don't understand poems like others do. I bet it's good.
