New day, same shit

By PickYourselfUp - 06/10/2014 03:17 - United States - Chesapeake

Today, was the day I would turn my life around and start losing weight. I went outside for my first run and said, "I got this!" I confidently stepped forward, the first symbolic steps to my new life. In the anticipation, I forgot my porch had steps. I face-planted on my driveway. FML

First impressions

Today, I joined a gym. I’m overweight and not very athletic, so I was nervous. I looked around and tried a treadmill. I start walking at a chill pace, then got ambitious and cranked it to a "light jog." Within seconds, I tripped, fell, and sent the emergency stop button flying across the room. The gym staff ran over and I swear someone said, “Well, at least he’s trying.” FML

Don't bother with exercise. Weight loss is 90% diet. Try a low carb diet. I've currently list about 25 kg, or 55 lbs.

Is it really ninety percent???? Where did you learn this? I'm having a really hard time believing that... It would be ninety percent if you like ate nothing.

Yea I would love to know where you're getting your statistics lol That being said, it is an important part of losing weight. You should still go for walks/jogs if you want to speed it up. Short bursts of relatively intense exercise are best. Don't waste time exercising for hours at a shot. You get more from high intensity workouts because your body will continue to burn calories afterwards.

No one should "not bother with exercise", it's necessary for a healthy lifestyle and a long life. It's not all about looks

No it is not. I got this from personal experience. I do have a job where I walk around a decent amount buy other than that I don't exercise. HIIT is good to work on your endurance but certainly not a big part of weight loss. It's weird how people down vote me when clearly I have knowledge from experience and they obviously don't.

Just because exercise didn't work for you as well as dieting did does not make that the case for everyone. That's why it's called a "personal" experience.

Well you can dismiss my claims but you can't dismiss science http://www.forbes.com/sites/alicegwalton/2013/09/04/the-6-weight-loss-tips-that-science-actually-knows-work/ I'm not bulshitting here. The article explains it. It's way easier to eat less calories than to pose them through exercise. And that's talking calories only, not even taking into account eating less carbs for example. Which will benefit your weight and overall health.

baby steps OP...don't take it as a bad sign... your commitment will drive you towards success..

You seriously sound a lot like me lol

Congratulations on taking that step in the first place because many people don't! :)
