I bought a skirt once that I thought looked pretty shirt-like...I went into the dressing room and modeled it for my parents as a shirt...and wondered why the clerks were chuckling at me.

i guess none of the friends knew it was a skirt either? if that's the case then it probably looks fine as a top. maybe it's from american apparel? they have lots of things that can be worn different ways. however, i'm sure there were hints to what kind of article of clothing the skirt was as the OP was buying it but maybe she didn't notice.

I do most of my clothes shopping at thrift stores, so I have probably about ten tube tops/skirts that I wear interchangeably because I'm not sure which they're supposed to be.

lol i know this is old but it made me giggle. this has happened to me a few times, i actually have about 5 skirts (mostly H&M) that could possibly be tube tops but as far as i'm concerned they look better as a skirt. and if anyone approached me and made a comment like that i'd just ask why they're wearing a skirt as a top? works both ways.. it's more **** her life for being so closed minded.

if it was that similar to a tube top, probably no one else new. hell, maybe it's actually a tube top and the other girl thinks it's a skirt. either way, it prob looks fine- don't sweat it.
