Today, at the grocery store, an elderly woman asked for help with some tea. I lent her a hand, spending a good twenty minutes reading different labels out loud until she found one she liked. After she was done, she handed me a pamphlet and said, "You're a nice girl. I hope you don't go to hell." FML

Today, at the supermarket, an old lady asked for directions to the produce aisle. Having read way too many stories lately on this very site about awful elderly folks, I was wary, but helped her out. She gave me an awkward hug in thanks, lifting my wallet in the process, as I later found out. FML

Today, I saw an elderly woman struggling to reach the top shelf in my local grocery store, so I went over and asked if she needed help. She then accused me of flirting with her and had me escorted from the property. FML

Today, an elderly woman couldn't afford all of her groceries at the checkout so she started to take out a few things. I offered to pay for her groceries; she thanked me and walked out. An onlooker then came up to me and told me that she does it to someone every week. FML

Today, I was working at my job as a cashier, checking out an elderly woman's groceries. She was very nice, and we chatted for a couple minutes. Once she had paid, she leaned close to me and said, very politely, "I'm so so sorry that I mistook you for a girl at first, young man." I AM a girl. FML

Today, on my way out of the subway station, I noticed an older woman standing at the bottom of a flight of stairs with a large cart. I went up to her and asked if she needed help getting it up the stairs. She looks me up and down and says, "No, not from you." FML

Ok I think that's kind of funny and I for one agree with the old lady in my hopes that OP does not burn in hell... I used to get the pamphlets a lot...people like to leave them in the aisles at the store... But you know even the ones who's beliefs are weird are still just trying to share their belief... Just smile nod and secretly think they are a nice weirdo

It was a kind of awkward situation but it's not that big of deal. It's just a pamphlet it's bot like she was "shoving it down your throat" or anything. The "I hope you don't go to hell" part is a bit weird but she meant well, she's just spreading the love of God around and wants the best for you. At least she's nicer about it than some other Christians about it. You don't have to read it if don't but I would if I were you, for information purposes at least. I'm not Hindu or Islamic but I'm still curious about it, besides being informed helps you be more open-minded and less judgmental; I know that most Muslims aren't terrorists and don't blow people up. This combats hate and prejudgist thoughts.
