Nice try, Susan

Today, my estranged wife threatened to slit her wrist with a razor blade if I did not send her $50,000. She sent me a picture of her pressing a Gillette Safety razor to her wrist. It looked like she was getting ready to shave her perpetually hairy arms. She never was the sharpest knife in the drawer. FML

Step 1. File for divorce. Step 2. Block her on everything.

she needs mental health help. harried or not it could be seen as neglect to not get her help. Yes people will call adult protective services.

I believe the proper course of action, especially since she's sent you evidence of herself threatening self-harm is to "take it seriously" and acknowledge that you have neither the training or appropriate relationship with the situation to effectively help her through this mental health crisis - Therefore, you refer it to the appropriate emergency responders, who should be able to help her and make sure she's not a threat to herself or others. Probably even take her in to the psych ward for a proper assessment, that sort of thing. [The point being that she will learn rather quickly not to make such threats as an attempt at manipulation/extortion, as she will find herself some combination of stuck in the psych ward for a few days each time, or facing the ire of cops for wasting everyone's time and committing a crime, if she admits to being fully competent/not actually seriously threatening self-harm]

absolutely do this. I've lost too many friends over the years to suicide and she needs to either seriously get help or be taught in the most direct way that crying wolf can have consequences.
