That's the same way it is in my state. You actually have to show the bouncer at the door your photo ID (and up in one part of the city, you need a secondary piece of information such as your bank card or credit card). Don't have an ID? They turn you away right then and there. And if you get in, you still have to present your ID when you order a drink. Too many places have been shut down because they fail to card, so everyone is being extra careful.
