Today, I was walking through the mall with my boyfriend of a year and a half. There was sign outside of the jewelry store that said, "Engagement Rings - No interest for 12 months." I said, "Look, baby! No interest." He replied, "That's right… NO INTEREST." FML

after 1.5 years thats enough time to make a decision to stay with somebody for the rest of your life? Thats lust not love...Find a guy that will marry in a year and you'll be getting a divorce even sooner.

HAHAHAHAH you set yourself for that one. Why would u even bring up engagement rings? When he's ready he'll propose. U pushing it just takes away the meaning. Besides he was probably joking.

Deserved it. Don't hint for gifts, you'll get burned in the most ingenious way. Some of us may be simple, but don't underestimate. Men can be devious when they realize they're being manipulated.

EVERYONE #35 #35 #35 She took it as a joke and they both laughed about it!!! CHILL ON THE DRAMA! (...that was dramatic too... ahaha)

1.5 years is waaaaaaaay too quick to get married, unless you're in your late 30's/40's, which I'm assuming you're not. Sorry, but you deserved that one.

If a couple is really serious, marriage does indeed have its benefits; many legal rights, including hospital visitation, family insurance plans, sick care and bereavement leave in the case of a spouse's illness or death. So while marriage may not add up to the "love forever" that so many idealists seem to view it as, it does have its benefits if a couple is really serious and fairly certain that they are going to stay together.

He was joking, but it probably meant everything to you for him to propose to you.

YDI for playing mind games. If you want to marry him, buy the ring yourself and propose. Don't be one of those passive fairy-tale women.

HAHAHAHAHA :D he was probably just joking because you did kinda set him up for that. but if not, these people should leave you alone for trying to prod him, cuz a lot of guys don't like to make the first move and there's nothing wrong with the girl wanting it to happen...
