Today, my husband suggested that I spend my three weeks of summer vacation alone with our four children, so that he can spend his going birdwatching by himself. FML

Some people have a median paying job and can afford it. Not everyone in America is a broke 15 year old. Engineers, Programmers, Network Admin, Developers. All jobs that don't require a doctorate and you can easily make 60k+ in low-middle class areas.

Compromise with him! If he loves bird watching, give him a long weekend for it, but have him back for something YOU want to do alone/with friends. And then plan stuff all together (obviously!) Sometimes men are clueless and literally need that hint of a NOPE said right in their face! I hope he realizes after you discuss. Communicate your issues!

Id laugh and tell him i already booked my vacation alone he told me he wanted to spend vacation with the kids and i expect daily reports and pictures but its okay i have their three weeks planned out so he'll have plenty to do
