Today, I had to cover for a coworker who didn't turn up for work. He's always late for work and I was pissed off about having to cover for him again, so I said to my colleagues, "He better be either in hospital or dead." Turns out he was dead. FML

Today, my coworker called in to say that he couldn't make it to work today because he was in a coma and asked if I could cover his shift. This isn't the first time he's tried to use this excuse. FML

Today, as a CNA, I had to go through the belongings of a patient. His phone rang and I answered - it was his boss. As I explained, he cut me off and said to "drop the act" and "he better be there now or he's fired". He was pronounced dead-on-arrival. FML

Today, I was bored out of my mind at work. I told my coworker he was lucky to be leaving early. I forgot the reason of his early departure was to go to his grandfather's funeral. FML

Today, I got a heads-up that my boss suffered a death in the family, but was coming into work anyway. I thought he'd be depressed, but it seems he deals with grief with anger instead. I found that out when he yelled at me, threatening to rip my spine out my ass over a typo I made in a report. FML

Today, the really hot guy that works in the same building as me came to work after being away for the past two days. I said, "Look who finally decided to come to work!" His response was, "I had a death in the family, thanks." FML

Toxic workplace

Today, my subordinate didn't come to work. I called him several times, and it seemed like he just overslept, which has happened before. As I was filing the report about this, the police came to interrogate me because this guy took his life last night and blamed us in his note. I have no idea what I did wrong. FML

Today, I covered for my friend at work because he said he was having car troubles and was going to be late. Two hours into the shift, I got a call from my roommate asking why my girlfriend had moved out. Turns out, I'd covered my friend's shift so he could help my girlfriend move out behind my back. FML

Today, at work, I was about to close a big sale, when a coworker rushed over and said there was a call for me in the office. He heavily implied my mom had died, and I rushed out. After I figured out there was no call and that my mom was fine, he'd already stolen my sale and the commission. FML

Today, at my job as a hotel housekeeper, I accidentally entered the room of someone who hadn't left yet. To my horror, the man inside was having a massive heart attack. I just found out he passed away, despite immediate medical intervention. FML

Wow. That's horrible. Hopefully he wasn't too young. Don't feel bad though, there was no way for you to know. It's a common thing to say anyways.

Strange... No more than five minutes before reading this FML, I was thinkng about my coworker at my old job. One day she was late for work. My asshole boss was flipping out and calling her a lazy ass and that she better have a damn good excuse for being so late. Turns out she had a siezure while showering for work. She fell, hit her head and died. Her bf had to break into her house then break down the bathroom door because she had called him and told him she just had a seizure but was going to hop in the shower and would call him when she got out. She never called. To the OP, FYL... I don't know how I would feel if I had something about my coworker like that before I knew what had happened to her. You couldn't have known. But it still sucks :-/ RIP Kendra

Wait, that makes no sense. "I just had a seizure so I'm going to take a shower. Don't come over or anything to make sure that I won't have another. I'll call you when I'm done." Sorry for your loss but that was stupid on her part.

I have a friend with a seizure disorder. Because they occur rather frequently he brushes them off a lot of the time, since unless they're really bad ones usually they don't mean too much. Sounds like something along the same lines. Sorry for your loss. :[
