Not funny, guys

Today, I accidentally fell asleep at work after working a 12-hour shift. Instead of waking me up, my coworkers spiked my coffee mug with whiskey and told my boss I was drunk. My boss wouldn't even listen to my side of the story and fired me. FML

Wow! Does your workplace have security cameras that could have caught the people involved with this?? And why did *they* have whiskey at work!?

Falling asleep is innocent! Especially after 12 hours! But spiking isn't! Pull out those security tapes!

Damn how selfish of you op to fall asleep after putting in 12 hrs of work. That means everyone else has to put in their 12 hrs because you are sleeping. Gah I can't stand people like that thinking sleeping is normal and shit

******* idiot. Go work a shift for 12 hours before making ignorant comments like this.

Makes me wonder why kind of person OP is to have all his coworkers want to do that to them

Why did you fall asleep AT WORK after your shift? Where did they get whiskey?

It's time to sue your coworkers AND your boss

How did they alcohol in work premises. Something is wrong

Wow op that's dreadful your co workers are assholes.

that really sucks. I hope they come clean with their boss about it... otherwise I think you got a good case against your boss with the labor board

there's no good reason to fall asleep at work.. I have done 8-16 hour shifts and was ok... it all depends on the lifestyle that the person has and if they have a good sleep the previous night... most people are like "poor OP" but forget how easy is to spend over 12 hours awake when not at work...

Accidents happen, and for all we know OP could be a single parent trying to make ends meet who definitely has to be awake more than 12 hours a day - continually. Regardless, once isn't something you should or would be fired for the same way you would be for drinking, and being framed by malicious coworkers is shitty.

@LycanGod is probably easier to spend 12 hours without falling asleep when away from work. . .because you're not working.

Hey Algorithm you are probably right. but that is assuming it is the first time...we don't know it is or isnt... hence my comment was more general that specific to the first or not first time

hey Zboot, away from work sure why not. but at work we get paid to be awake. not doing so is rather bad given that we are getting something in return (money and a job)

It doesn't read to me that OP fell asleep during work hours. It clearly says after working a 12 hr shift.

it could have been a second job, or going for a 13 or 16 hour shift? maybe he was pulling a double... only ways I can think that he would still be at work

Or maybe there are a bunch of jobs that you can't sleep at- human services, law enforcement, nursing, emergency services... And many of them routinely work 12+ hour shifts. I find it appalling that people think it's hard to stay awake for 12 hours.

@LycanGod I don't get paid to work 12 hour days. So if I'm at work that long, regardless of if I fall asleep, the only thing my boss would be giving me is paid time off. I guess sucks to be you.

@ Zboot does not suck to be me. I don't work 12 hour shifts anymore. but when I do. I get paid for every hour I am there. When I worked 12+ hour shifts, I always got paid for every hour.... if you don't get paid for working past the "regular scheduled hours" I guess it sucks to be you seems you might have an easy job if your manager doesn't mind you falling asleep while on the job...

Falling asleep wouldn't have gone over anyway... Spiking your coffee seems a bit extreme...but it looks like what they intended worked...did you do any sobriety tests to prove that you were in fact drunk?

@53 Went wouldn't it? What kind of horrible jobs do people have?
