If you're still in touch with them regularly then this is hurtful and they don't deserve to be your friends anyway. But if, like me, you suck at keeping in touch with people, you can't expect them to make all the effort. My best friends from sixth form (college) are all still close and I see them once a year - that's how life goes sometimes
