Paranoid parents

By LibraryPedo - This FML is from back in 2013 but it's good stuff - United States - Chino Hills

Today, I was yelled at and called a pedophile by a mom for talking to her 5 year-old girl. I work at a library, and she looked like she needed help. This is the third time it's happened. FML

Wow. Some parents are too over-protective.

Why didn't the mother join her little girl. At this age she surely needs some help in a library.

Haha.. I'm wondering what kinda books you're trying to show these children. FYL though, you don't deserve to be treated like that for doing your job. It's possibly your appearance, maybe a makeover is in order.

Just be happy you aren't called a pedophile even though you did absolutely nothing whatsoever.

Going out on a limb here but I THINK you may need to re-read the FML...

If OP was a woman instead of a man, it would've been a different story.

You overwhelmingly hear stories like this and it turns out the innocent person who has a parent flip out on them is a guy. Airlines have been sued for their "no male passengers next to solo flight minors" policy. Some still have it. The extra insulting thing is that only 3-5% of molestation happens from a stranger. The rest are all family and acquaintences.

Maybe you should stop showing young children the sex ed section...

I'm having trouble understanding this as well. The op works at this library, he is supposed to help people. Or are you suggesting children have no right to receive help from the staff?

sad world, you can't even help a patron anymore without getting in trouble for something ridiculous. everyone is paranoid these days :(

I get that a lot as well, I'm 17 and I work as a cashier. People are way overprotective these days.
