Today, my dad married his fiancée, who insists I call her "Mom." I'm three years older than her, and went to the same high school. She's taking me shopping next week to buy me "something nice." FML

well make her feel older than dirt; point out every wrinkle and maybe even a few grey hairs. and if you really want to f*ck with her u can be like it's okay i got to your dad first. haha but really sorry op

I don't see what's so wrong about this FML. His dad is dating a younger girl, so what? At the least, you should be supporting him for finding love, rather than being so ungrateful. That's very selfish.

what if she's a gold digger ?

It doesn't suggest anywhere she is being unsupportive. But she shouldn't have to deal with that sort of disrespect from a younger girl she went to highschool with. FYL OP, I would just straight up tell her you aren't about to call her mom and that if she is coming into your family she needs to show you respect.

I know it doesn't say that, but really I doubt op would be on here complaining about her new mom wanting to be called mom, she's has to have some trait that op doesn't like.

The issue is that dad's wife is three years YOUNGER than the OP and yet is treating the OP like a child. Insisting that she be called mom and saying she was going to take the OP out to buy "{something nice" makes her sound a bit condescending. The OP may be willing to be supportive of dad, but not be willing to deal with someone who is trying to act like they are older and wiser when they really aren't.

at 31 maybe the "mom" still goes to highschool and op is working lol

in my state, Texas, the age of sexual consent is 17, but you can't get married without parental consent until 18.

That's stupid she's trying to make you call her mom. Tell her to **** off. On the other hand high five to your dad!
