Reality check

By DerrickUhl - This FML is from back in 2012 but it's good stuff - United States - Napa

Today, I finally turned 21, so my friends and I decided to go to a club. There, I met this hot waitress and we were really hitting it off. I ordered a drink. She replied, "No problem, kiddo." FML

Don't want to be the bearer of bad news man but she's a waitress. I'm pretty sure she always "hits it off" with guys: more tips.

obviously if she was still getting you your drink she doesnt really think youre a kiddo?

Take it easy kiddo, and stop complaining

You are way too sensitive. News flash: you're still a kid, especially if you get your panties in a twist over something as trivial as this. Also, ever thought that the waitress gets hit on all the time by wannabe adults like you? Whether or not you are an adult is not determined by age, it is determined by character. You still have much to learn young padawan, as do I. -From a fellow kid.

The moral of the FML is that he thought he and the waitress were hitting it off. You shouldn't make claims about someone until you have a better understanding of what you're reading, it just makes you seem arrogant.

This is your FML? Who cares if she called you kiddo.

She wasn't hitting on you; it's her job to be nice to people.

Enjoy your youth, it's goes by fast! I used to get mad when my mom called me "young lady" now I want her to call me that and I thank her when she does lol. I'll be 40 in 4 months ugh.

Here is my point. You have to be over 21 years of age to get into a club like this, therefore the waitress had to be over 21. Thus meaning she would be older than OP so in a sense OP would be younger or a "kiddo" to her.

I have a general rule of thumb if a person is being paid to be nice to me IE I am giving their employer money and they are providing a service to me then I won't ask them out unless they give me clear non-"give me a bigger tip" signs that they want me like giving me their phone number. This rule should be applied in varying degrees most stringently of course in any place where you are a regular. Don't ruin the bar dude.
