So it must have been a brand new washer? You didn't think to ring the place where you bought it before calling out a repairman?
Well, most repair people charge by the hour. He basically had to schedule a time slot for you and drive over to your place. Had you fixed it yourself, he could have spent the time fixing other peoples stuff. Had he not charged you, he would have been wasting money.
You my friend are a very smart person The standard charge for a repair man to come to your house and even look at the machine is 65$
