Reuniting with trauma

Today, people in my class reunion bullied me because of a skin condition I have called xeroderma pigmentosum. It makes it so that I get sunburned really easily, and they did it just like they did back in middle school. I hated my life then but when I heard them say it again, I just started crying. FML

I had an incident at work that brought up feelings I went through in Junior High. My coworkers were super sweet to me but the visceral reaction was so strong that I went home at the end of the day and sobbed. Kids have no idea of the damage they can do. Adults, however, should know better. Your former classmates are always going to be horrible.
