So, more than 2 years later, I have the biggest update ever. Not only did they never get married, but apparently the engagement was all in her head. The guy suddenly died after she found this out. There is no certainty, but most speculation points to her being involved. I know almost for certain that she was, because she attempted to use me as an alibi. She was there at the time of incident, but never told me. She claimed to be about 4 hours south of the incident, where she usually lives. She called me and asked if she should send police to check on him because he wasn't answering his phone and she was worried. Completely acted like she had no idea what was going on but was just worried. Eyewitness account puts her at the scene where he was injured with what would kill him. If she was there and was innocent, why not call 911 and get him help? Why drive like a maniac to where you supposedly were, then frantically call your daughter and pretend like you're just concerned and know nothing about the situation? Unless you did something wrong and you're trying to hide it? In the horror of knowing that my mother was involved in a potential murder and involved me without my consent or knowledge, I have told many friends. She now is going after me, telling my doctor that I'm insane and neglect my child, making many other kinds of threats. Not good. At this point, my entire family does not speak to her and will lock their doors and call the police if she appears. If anyone has an opinion on this and has possibly professional advice, I would love to hear it in a message. This is horrifying at best. FML

As long as they're not first cousins it's not an issue. Get over it.
