Roommates from hell

By WTF - 30/12/2011 07:10 - United States

Today, I have to choose between getting a cellphone contract that I need, or a TV that I don't even want, but which my flatmates insist I contribute towards. The same flatmates who eat all my food. This increased grocery bill has left me unable to afford either the phone or TV. FML

Move out, get some new flat mates. You'll make the money back.

have a back bone and tell them that you are going to pay the phone contract, to stop eating your damn food and to **** OFF .

Yup, go the mini-fridge route. You're short on money but just stop buying food for them for a couple weeks (you'll unfortunately have to either hide yours or only buy what you'll eat in a day), then get yourself that fridge. And a lock. Your roommates suck. Hopefully you can come to a good solution without too much trouble.

"your flatmates insist"? "eat all my food"? You are a pushover. A doormat. A spineless coward. Grow a pair and say something. Maybe even do something. You call yourself a man? You gold the second someone pushes you, get a grip, man. Stand up for yourself.

I find it appealing to see such feigned superiority people have over the internet. You don't even know the guy, and yet you're referring to him as a spineless coward and doormat. Interesting.

Kick them out or leave. They are definitely abusing you.

OP, this is a bad situation for you. Depending on how the lease is done can change things. If the lease us done in just your name, you have the authority to kick them out and get new flatmates. If one of them has the lease in their name, it's best you plan on moving out and finding new flatmates. If the lease is in all of your names, you will need to stick it out or find another poor soul to fill your vacancy. My sympathies....

You don't need a expensive phone contract. Boost mobile no contract phones are a better deal ($128 for cheapest phone plus first month payment then $50 unlimited everything each month and to cancel your service just stop paying).

You could try Setting down some ground rules such as everyone buys their own food. If everyone eats the same cereal rotate who buys the box. Tell them you dont want the tv but need a cellphone and it should be your choice. They should save for it if they want it that bad

Ah come on now! How old are you? U Have your own place. Brava! But u need rules, set guidelines, cooking nights, wash-up duties. All that. For the love of god do not just go and do everything yourself because in your kind and confused little brain u think u are helping, no, u are not, it's not or never ONWARD MY GOOD FRIEND!!!

It's not like they can do much if you don't get the tv. You need a cell phone just as much as I am sure they need theirs.. F them!
