Today, and for the past 13 months, I've been living in the States. I've been called a Nazi, asked if we have electricity in Germany, and been made fun of the way I speak with my "German accent", the list goes on. I'm not even German, I'm Danish. FML

Laugh at their ignorance. Or agree with their Nazi joke and let them know they could be next.

I guess, when you moved to America, you did Nazi that coming.

As a (southern) US citizen, I apologize. We're not all dumb asses. Just that we're not used to accents, and since I THINK (correct me if I'm wrong) Dutch has Germanic roots, that's probably where they thought you were from Germany. They probably thought they were being funny and trolling you. Just troll back, and troll harder.

Oh, yeah, I understand people think I'm from Germany at first glance. I really don't mind people not being able to distinguish a Dutch accent from a German one, as we are a small country etc. I DO mind people thinking that every German is a Nazi. That's plain ignorant and rude. Just to clarify: it was not a troll. Someone legitimately assumed I was a Nazi.

As an American, I am deeply ashamed and sorry. Not all of us are this horrible, I promise.

As an American, I wish I could apologize for all the stupid shit people have been saying. And it's really sad that they won't take the time to find out where you're actually from before the just assume and make stupid Nazi jokes.

Apparently, being a nazi isn't just about having fun with grammar.

Welcome to America, my friend. I am a foreigner as well, and I know exactly what you mean.

Our high school stopped teaching Geography a few years ago so that they could introduce a freshman preparedness type class instead ): So now instead of learning where shit is, they're learning how to balance a checkbook. It's ridiculous.

Danes don't sound near Germans when they speak English... Embarassing for them that they can't tell the difference. Or maybe they just NEVER watch movies.. :/

To be fair, most people cant identify a specific accent, even if they might be able to tell that there's a difference. It's like trying to determine who's from Kansas and who's from Kentucky when you've been raised in New York city all your life. All you know is "They sound like they're from the south". Yes, I know that those states are not from the south, but for someone not raised in either the midwest or the south, that's all they know. People only talk about the North (North East), the South (except Florida and Virginia), and California. All the other territories might as well not exist.

-.-' on behalf of the u.s. i apologize, sincerely. we're not all ignorant.

In my eyes it doesn't even matter if any person is from Germany or not you should not call people out of their name regardless of color, race or religious background. The problem is the fact that she/he shouldn't have been called a nazi period. The problem is not we Americans don't know geography or whatever, it's we have a serious problem with name calling and nobody listen until somebody gets shot.

Well, honestly people like that give the United States a bad name. So don't pay any attention to them.
