Silly idea

By jameen - This FML is from back in 2013 but it's good stuff - United Kingdom - Tadley

Today, whilst out shopping with my crush, I decided to jokingly try on a silly-looking dress in an overly-expensive shop. Apparently I took the wrong size as I couldn't get out. Not only did the shop assistants have to publicly cut me out of the dress, I had to pay for it. FML

How hard did you try to zip it so that there was no way to get out other than to be cut out? YDI

And the reaction you were trying to get from him is...?

You could have paid for it and went home and try to get out of it. When you do, sell it off a little cheaper.

True. If it's really a designer dress, hire a tailor to sew it back together. Resell it (online?), but be up front about its condition. You should be able to get most of your money back.

so you got it on by yourself, but couldn't get it off? sounds legit.

If there's anything men love, it's sarcastic clothes-shopping comedy. "You had me at 'Vera Wang'!"

The situation sucks, OP but I feel YDI. My hips are a killer when it comes to getting some clothes on but I don't force them on. I'd have felt you'd have known if something wasn't going to fit.

And it's silly looking... Wrong choice to try it on in the first place...

You should stick to window shopping. Clearly, it's the best way for you to avoid problems.

That stinks OP :/ the item might have been mislabeled!

Yes! Blame her admittedly silly attempt at humor on the tag being mislabeled!

If I were you, I would have chosen a fairly large size so I knew it would fit... YDI.

No you wouldn't have. Nobody picks a size thinking "I'm going to get the size up just in case the shop assistant has to publicly cut me out of this".

No, they don't. But they choose a size up that way if it's too big, they know to get a smaller size. & how can you not tell that a dress won't fit? if she had to get CUT out of it, there was obviously a point where she knew 'hey this is too small.'

okay OP, that sucks. but how did you manage to get IN it in the first place?

It's often harder to get out of clothes than in them, I've noticed that.

how'd you manage to get it all the way on & not get it off? shouldn't both processes been just as hard?
