To all the people arguing about species: a species is a group of animals that can interbreed and produce viable offspring (offspring that can live and reprduce without problems). The parrot and the parakeet couldn't have viable offspring if they mated, so they were not the same species. Like humans and great apes trying to mate. We may look very similar, act the same in some ways, but we cannot interbreed. The nazis tried, it didn't work.
I have a blue parakeet. Named Ski. One of my other birds died a few weeks ago. Creepy! O_o
shit..that sucks...i also own a parrot and parakeet and my parrot bit the crap out of my parakeets leg...twice..hes ok tho and in a seperate cage
You deserve it for being a poor owner and not doing your research. First...whenever you get a new bird, you must quarantine it for 30 days to make sure your other birds don't get sick. After the bird is deemed safe, you have to introduce it to other birds WHILE SUPERVISED. Start with putting the cages in the same room. Even some birds of the same species won't get along, just like some people won't get along. Personality conflict. So sometimes two birds can never be out of the cage together. You just threw two strangers into a small space together. Of course they're going to fight, they are territorial and I'm sure your parrot didn't appreciate the invasion of his home. Second, some species of birds are naturally more aggressive than others. If you put a tiny parrotlet with a much larger cockatiel, that tiel is going to get the snot beaten out of it. If your "parakeet" is actually a budgerigar...very aggressive little bird. If you're going to be a pet owner you have to look into things and ask questions before you make any changes in any way.
I have 2 parakeets. Both blue. Both evil. I don't think it's a coincidnece that the day you get a blue parakeet, you other bird dies. And to the person above me: A parakeet and a budgerigar are the same thing, retard.
Uh, no, budgies are a TYPE of parakeet. There are several different types, of which, budgies are the smallest and most common.
From experience, Parakeets are pretty vicious. Do a little research before you get a new pet next time. I've heard of parakeets eating canaries, finches, pheasants, each other and their own babies.
aww that's soo sad. in so sorry:(
Your own fault for sticking the birds in the same cage right away... you're supposed to keep them separated until they adjust to each other

honestly...its two birds that didn't know each other, and you put them in a cage together? You didn't know if they would fight, love each other, etc. and your locking them in a cage together while you are at work for hours and hours.. They most likely fought to figure out who the "big dog" is, and it was a fight to the death...i am sorry your bird died but really, common since says dont do something like that til they aer accustomed to each other.
blue parakeets are evil. mine clawed my green parakeet to death, then perched on its perch with a smug look in its eyes.
