Slam the brakes

Today, I totaled my car, because I mistook the leaves blowing across the road for a child. I swerved and hit a tree. The home owner wants to sue for "harming his tree" and hospital wants to test my mental stability. FML

I really don't see how you can mix those two up... Well at least if the hospital finds you crazy you'll get a little vacation.

Better than turning it into paper, I guess?

My Dad's little brother was hit by a semi when he was 5 in the 50's.the driver thought he was a piece of paper blowing across the road, so yes it happens! Better to be safe than shatter countless lives! Hope all works out in your favor!

I know how u feel. the other day I came within inches literally from hitting the 6 year old boy who loves on my street. he was chasing a squirrell and ran out in the road. I ran the squirrell over but I'd rather a squirrell than a little boy.

Doesn't the tree need an injury examination too?

I suppose if the leaves blow in a specific way and the driver might have been momentarily glancing to the side and saw the leaves out of the corner of their eye and panicked, thinking it was a child and swerving out of the way so they wouldn't hurt the kid it's possible. Unless they were actually looking at the road and completely mistook the leaves for a child, which I find strange, on the bright side they would have been willing to put themselves in danger to save a child from being run over.
