Sneaky

By TheHarvardian - 25/10/2012 06:59 - United States - Ft Mitchell

Today, I got fired from a job that I've had for four days for being too "secretive." Apparently, I was leaning over my notebook so that my boss couldn't stand behind me and read what I was writing. The email literally said I was "being too sneaky". They were work notes. FML

Before you leave, put a sticky note pack in your cubicle that reads: "Since you seemed so keen on being a nosy ass, I made this note especially for you:" Then make him flip through about twenty sticky notes with arrows or "Almost there!" before he gets to: "Go **** yourself." It won't get you your job back, but you'll be laughing your way through the unemployment line.

Why didn't you just show him the notes?

OP is probably too sneaky that the boss wouldn't even notice if he tried.

1 - I agree. If they are work notes, just show the damn boss! If you feel the need to lean over your work so that you're "hiding" your work, that is definitely sneaky. I'd be peeved if I was OPs boss, also.

Maybe OPs boss didn't ask to see them and just got frustrated he couldn't see them. I learn over my notes while I right but that's cause I have amazing posture...

#13 no offense but i don't see any reason to be mad at ur employee just for this. As i don't care what my employees are doing till the time i am getting work done at time. So to me it looks like Op's boss and #13 got some issues with people's privacy.

I'm really hoping you got autocorrected, because if not, your spelling is atrocious...

if i was in that situation, i dont even know if defending my side of story would be even worth it. even if the OP was being secretive about something, what kind of basis is that for someone being fired? - especially without investigation or questioning (had it been of great concern). sounds like those bosses that walk around the cubicles, giving the time to stare at each employee for 3 minutes. creepy

Haha, I know right? Actually I never got a chance to show them the notes, because I went home that night without having any idea that someone was trying to read over my shoulder and the next morning got a phone call saying that that boss had gotten an email from my supervisor that I was to be fired. I explained the situation and he said he would look into it, but so far nothing.

I agree with "1". Just should have shown him the notes.

See the button that looks like a thumbs up? Use that instead of repeating comments.

8- Hey see the back space on your keyboard. Use that instead of being a jerk. (:

Hey, 2 and 14 - it's obvious that both of you are new here, so here's your initiation: if you agree, post it on that user's comment, or word it in your own way, or just click the thumbs up button and move on. K thanks

I would have thought that using the reply and thumb up button would be common sense. Guess not.

Oh the irony. This time it cost you your job. And here we were thinking that karma was the only bitch.

I fail to see the irony in this FML.

26 The irony here is that OP was taking notes for work presumably to help become better at the job, but instead resulted in getting fired.

The irony is that OP was fired for being sneaky, but it was the boss who was being sneaky by trying to peak over her shoulder at what she was writing.

That's not ironic. Also, peek not peak.

This is a wicked idea! Best one for sure. I doubt OP would get his job back anyways so may as well have some fun with it.

Doesn't sound like a good work environment. How you're able to find something more suitable.

were they really "important" enough to be written up?

BellaBelle_fml 23

The OP wasn't written up, they were fired. Even then the notes were probably not important enough to be written up for, that's part of why this is an FML.

He was probably just upset that you weren't sitting up straight because he couldn't see your chesticles. :) Seriously though, you're probably better off. Your boss sounds like he's into micro-management, and it sucks working under those conditions.

Yes! Micro managing is horrible for everyone, I don't know why some bosses do it, or who even gives them such a stupid idea! Micro managing has played a part in me leaving a couple jobs in the past. Glad I don't have to deal with that anymore, and I wish anyone that has to luck.

But OP wasn't written up.. She was f-f-fired! Edit: Thanks for not going under #9.

Send him a essay and report about how much of an asscricket he is.
