Today, my ten year-old son realized something. Beer is alcohol. People who drink a lot of alcohol are alcoholics. Therefore, I'm an alcoholic for drinking beer with dinner. He told everyone at his conservative private school and they tried to have an intervention. They pray for me every day. FML

That's what you get for not discussing these issues with your child earlier. He's 10 and he just discovered alcohol? And on top of that you haven't taught him enough for him to understand the lack of severity in an adult drinking beer? YDI for allowing your child to stay ignorant, thinking it will preserve his innocence.

Reminds me of my childhood I went to an Episcopalian school During chapel at my school on a parent visiting day in kindergarten some kid said that the class pets (newts) got married and had babies so i stood up and screamed "YOU DON'T NEED TO BE MARRIED TO HAVE BABIES MY PARENTS WEREN'T MARRIED WHEN I WAS BORN" And everyone flipping out about him drinking beer in front of his kids chill the **** out dude Frankly i think having a relaxed attitude toward alcohol and showing your kids the responsible way to use it is FAR BETTER than making it a tantalizing forbidden fruit

Too lazy to read all the comments. What's with all the "waw, YDI, 10 and he doesn't know alcohol ?!!! XD ololz²" that's stupid. If OP drinks a beer every day, he knows what it is. But the school just confused the child, thinking every drop of alcohol is evil. But, I must say, even if you don't end like shit every night, drinking every day is messing with your organs (dunno the english names for them), badly, and more surely than if you just threw a party from time to time. "this is nothing, i just drink a few beers every day" = " this is nothing, I just smoke 5-10 cigs every day". It's not as bad as smoking 30, but it's bad enough. ^^ Don't mistake me, I'm french, I like alcohol, and almost everyone in my family drink a glass of wine or three every meal. It's still dumb to think there are no consequences if you don't end throwing up.

Not like you would normally have deserved it, but you send your kid to a conservative private school. You have to expect things like this if you're gonna do something stupid like that.

lol- that's why parochial schools are a waste of time. The kids feel entitled, don't try as hard, and ultimately don't succeed as much in the real world.
