Today, I was t-boned and my truck was rendered useless. I was given a ticket even though the man who hit me ran a red light. Why? Because there was dirt on my license plate. FML

Just to confirm: did you get A ticket (for a dirty plate) or THE ticket (you were named the gulty party of the accident)? Because #2 is bogus, and you should get a lwayer while eyewitnesses can still remember anything. Whearas IMHO YDI #1- keep the license plate clean.

Update: I have gone to court to fight the ticket and I ran into (pun intended) the guy who hit me who proceeded to get in my face and yell at me and threatening me with legal action. It turns out the officer is good friends with the guy who hit me, which is why I was given a ticket. There's an internal investigation being conducted and the Magistrate deemed the ticket void

Another detail. I was a Cadet with my local department and have been through 2 academies so I knew that something fishy was going on. I'm currently awaiting a summons to testify against the officer
