Stranded

By Anonymous - This FML is from back in 2013 but it's good stuff - United States

Today, I locked my keys in my car. After looking for the spare key for hours, we called our insurance company, who then sent a "locksmith" with a wedge and a bar to open my car. All he did was break the driver and passenger doorhandles. My stuff is still inside. FML

Whenever I lock my keys in my car, I ask the nice boys hanging on the corner for some help. They can get my car open in less than a minute, but then I have to get my car back. That takes a bit longer.

Make the company pay to fix them.

WTF? A locksmith? I like how you put that word in quotes...

Because he clearly wasn't a very good one.

I used to work for AAA, with a standard lockout kit (inflation wedge, plastic wedge, bar and rod strap) you can get into almost any car with little effort (BMW/Benz locks are a pain). The "locksmith" is clearly an n00b and I hope your insurance or his can cover the damage

You should make the company pay for the damages. Also, did you try the metal clothes hanger method?

There's many a way to break into a car. It all comes down to, time, level of skill/experience/knowledge held by the person attempting the task, materials available to perform the task & the vehicle itself (age, security features, etc.) I believe everyone should know how to break into their own car. My mums old car had a fault with the wiring, you banged on the roof where the central interior light was and the central locking would short out & the car would unlock.

Well that didn't pan out...I hope your insurance will pay for the damages if not hope it's a cheap repair...

Since it was the guy your insurance company sent, simply put in a claim. Although your rates will probably triple for the next 10 years...

A glass cleaner who would come to break open your windows would have been more useful.

It would have been cheaper to break the window
