Stranded

By Username - This FML is from back in 2011 but it's good stuff - Australia

Today, my Facebook was hacked. The hacker messaged all my online friends, explaining that "I" was overseas, had run out of money and needed help. Not one person cared enough to respond. I guess the hacker picked the wrong target. FML

First of all, it kind of sounds like you wish your family/friends had been tricked into losing money, which is a pretty shitty thing to want to have happened for the sake of your ego. Second of all, who would just blindly send money because someone wrote them on Facebook asking for it? if I got a message like that the first thing I would do is contact the person directly to find out what was going on.

damn i so mny ppl that got same thing

I'm sure they all knew it was a fake. it IS a pretty old scam at the point.

maybe they knew that it wasnt you cause if you were in trouble and stuck over seas, how would you get on facebook, if you can get on facebook oviously you can call for help.

you wouldnt have wifi... would you? smartass

Oh please. That scam has been around for years, your friends are just smart enough to know it's a scam. If someone hacked into my account and did that, I would HOPE my friends were smart enough to not respond.

or maybe your friends aren't complete dumbasses, cheer up OP.

You didn't get 'hacked', you got 'phished'. It means you logged in to a fake facebook page, or were otherwise tricked into giving out your password. Be more careful- this was your fault. Also, the messages were sent by an automated bot, so it was probably obvious it wasn't you. Good thing your friends pay more attention than you!

no, it just means your friends know you wouldn't use Facebook to ask for help or have heard of the scams
