Today, I ran into my ex-girlfriend from high school at the exact pizza shop we met at where I worked in high school. She broke it off with me after she caught me cheating with her best friend. These days, she's a lawyer who makes six figures a year. I still work at the same pizza shop. FML

Today, I had a meeting in the town where my ex-girlfriend works. After the meeting, I bought some ice cream and sat on a bench in a public place. She came across with her girlfriends laughing and obviously having fun. She only looked in my direction briefly. I threw the ice cream into the trash. FML

I think you are seeing this the wrong way. After all, anyone who had the drive and determination to make it through 7 years of education would easily have dumped you anyway at some point. You did her the courtesy of saving her a lot of lost time figuring it out herself...after all those are billable hours now.
