Almost all cars.....

Not any I've driven. I stand by the fact that's it's incredibly lazy/stupid engineering. It makes no sense to manufacter a car that is prone to such a common yet serious problem when the solution is so simple.

It's done for convenience. It's easier to hit a button, when you're in the car, than to stick the key into the lock once you're out of it. Most people don't regularly lock their keys in the car, but most people do lock their cars. I don't think I've ever seen a car that doesn't lock while the doors are open, and stay locked when they are shut.

My car won't let me lock it without the key either. If i try to lock it with a front door open it just doesn't even close. Must be those american cars then.

That could definitely be the case. Hadn't thought of that before, but yeah. American's are lazy (by stereotype at least, if not in reality) and so cars manufactured for Americans are pretty likely to have the 'lazy mans features.'

cause then you would have to take them off to get your feet wet (assuming the water isn't too cold to do so).. and then you have to keep track of them.. maybe they went and got their feet wet in the water and walked down the beach a little.. then they set their shoes down and started making out or whatnot, then the tide comes up and takes their shoes... or they hurry off to get home to get down, and they leave their shoes... it seems easier to just leave your shoes behind...i would....
