did you consider that she'd need to pay for a plane ticket back as well?
Maybe it was a gift
Don't feel bad about that. I would choose the concert any day, because If it takes a plane to get to you, it's a lot of work, and it will cost money for supplies anyways.
Was the plane ticket just for the flight there? Because she might have not had enough money for another ticket back home after.
Maybe she bought the ticket to the concert before you asked her to visit you.
She couldn't afford the tickets to see you because she'd already spent the money on the concert tickets, silly!
Maybe she couldn't afford the return flight?
This may make me sound very bitchy myself.. But if I had a choice between seeing David Bowie or Paul Simon or whoever ONCE in my life, or visiting a friend for the same amount of money, I would go to the concert. And my best friends would understand why I couldn't come see them. I don't see the issue, is your friendship not stronger than this? You would deny your friend a concert experience she obviously really wanted (she must have if she dropped out on seeing you to go there), because you'd rather she spend time with you? MY friends would understand. If you do not, I honestly think you're a bit selfish. Sorry :-/
