Thank you for your service

By alek - This FML is from back in 2011 but it's good stuff - United States

Today, I was the waiter for my family at the village inn. It wasn't too bad, until I found out they left me no tip, only a napkin that said, "Get a haircut." FML

The village inn? Do you live in 1798 or something? I guess this makes you the village idiot.

the village bisikle? I'm pretty sure that just makes her a *****.

you're an idiot its most likely the name of a restaraunt or bar of some sort, you know that tiny little town that seems to be from the 1700's called New York City? they have a place by that name there

No, you guys are idiots. The OP didn't capitalize Village Inn which means he's not referring to a specific restaurant. I know I didn't explain it well, but I don't want to go into a lecture because it's too hard to type with the iPhone app on the iPad. TL;DR - Doc is, as usual, correct.

@ Everyone who thinks DocBastard is wrong. You all are wrong. DocBastard is right. If the OP capitalized "V"illage "I"nn, then that would indicate a proper noun = specific restaurant. He didn't. It's like saying, "I went to the town bar." Not a specific bar, just a bar in the town. L2Grammar. Posted on app, checked on computer to make sure it posted, didn't show up, posted on computer. Sorry.

I was raised in a small town in north Carolina... and village inn was a pizza parlor. there's no many of them less then ten...

Actually, he most likely lives in a village, which is just what an extremely small town is called. There are lots of them, and lots of those have a single place to stay as a visitor. Along with being a place to stay, they usually have a restaurant downstairs. We have one where I live too. I live in a tiny community of about 60 people. So we don't get a lot of visitors but it does happen. Therefore we have the village inn.

The FML made me think of a medieval log cabin.

completely agree messy long hair after a certain age is unprofessional. If it's styled then it's ok depending on what workplace. Sorry mate but YDI but they could have at least left you a tip to facilitate a haircut.

Were you friendly? attentive? get their order right? Was your hair actually neat & tidy? If the answer to those questions is "yes" then that sucks! Servers earn their living from the tips, certainly not the wages. If, however, the answer to any of those questions was "no", then you totally deserve it!!!

That's what happens when you work instead of taking the day off. You should've been at the table, not serving it. YDI.

Place your bets that this is the lazy brat who still mooches off their parents at 30 and can't spell employment.

Your family obviously has a sense of humor. I'd laugh it off. :)

Would have made more sense if they left you a tip with the napkin note...

They did leave a tip OP you liar!! They left a note that said ''Get a hairtcut.'' That is technically a ''tip.''

You weren't tipped, you were adviced. Next time, have the hostess seat them in the section of a raunchy waitress.
