Today, I was asked if I realized how much of a failure I am compared to everyone else. Yeah, I'm 32, and I feel like a complete failure. Almost everyone around me is a success, money coming in, their own place, trips non stop, new cars, and all the fuss. The problem is that I was asked this by one of my parents. I'm really tired. FML

They raised you. Shouldn't that be a reflection upon them?

Ask them who did such a fine job raising you. FYL

Here are two things I've learned are true: success comes in many forms, and comparison is the thief of joy. You can see the outward signs of what you call success, but you don't actually know what the rest of their lives are like, or even if all the things they have are sustainable or just bought on credit by people living beyond their means. And no matter what, it's not a reflection on you, and you get to write your life's story. Not your parents.

comparison is the thief of joy. everyone’s journey is different. as long as you’re alive you can turn it around and do better. every moment is a moment you can cease to do better and do what you want with your life. if that’s anything at all. but if you want to just work a normal job and live a simple life then you need to be okay with that and know that what others do accomplish doesn’t devalue you.
