To be fair, that is not entirely wrong, considering a tampon works like a sponge anyway. I say A for effort.

he is married, has a daughter, I am pretty sure he should have some clue about periods and pads. If not educate him. feel sorry for your daughter though this will make for a great story 1 day

Surely there was a box of pads in the bathroom? Why didn’t he and the wife discuss this exact scenario? So many questions, but a sponge was never the answer.
