My first period i used toilet paper. Yeah that was bad.
At least he tried
I fell like she could have improvised. I got my period for the first time at school, and made a makeshift pad out of folded toilet paper until I could get mum to buy me some.
I say YDI. I would've been just as clueless as he was. Did you really expect your husband to teach her about tampons and pads?
My husband knows what to buy and how to use both pads and tampons (even insert them- sometimes I get cramps so bad that I start crying even with pills so he helps. Plus he was curious about them the first time, lol. He yells "present" every time he sees my tampon string before I get dressed. ) and that did not make him any less manly you know. So why wouldn't he be able to give his daughter the talk?...
Why didn't you ever talk with your husband or your child about it?
Your daughter was probably so confused and scared to be bleeding down there. And then your husband was like a normal husband who feels uncomfortable around that and wouldn't know what to do (some guys do). I'm sorry for everyone involved. Next time will be better.
He could find even more creative solution. Something involving vampire bat, fot example...

To be fair, that is not entirely wrong, considering a tampon works like a sponge anyway. I say A for effort.
Nice parenting... you'd think he would have done a quick Google at some point before she hit puberty.
