The proposal

Today, I proposed to my girlfriend of two years after eating in a 5-star restaurant. She said that she wasn't ready, and that she would walk home by herself, which she did. A homeless gentleman walked up from behind me, patted me on the back, and said, "Bitches, man." I cried. FML

I propose he might have been in the same situation before.

Just wait awhile, OP. She'll come around eventually.

Atleast he was nice to you. Too many people would have found that funny.

If she doesn't value you, you deserve better than her. And you will get that.

just cause shes not ready for marriage doesnt mean she doesnt value him.

A girl just said "no, later" to a somewhat early proposal and walking home to avoid the inevitable awkward conversation that will likely follow, and all of the commenters are acting as if this is some kind of heartless act and saying that OP deserves better, like, c'mon, did you people even read the FML?

I voted YDI, but only because my finger slipped. OP most definitely did not deserve it.

You might say he deserved it for not talking about it beforehand. The proposal should not be a surprise, the execution should.

Well, I'd like to see things from both points of view. She doesn't feel ready, and a diner in a 5-starts restaurant couldn't change this fact. She still feels not ready. Maybe replete but still not ready.

I'm sorry OP. Give her time, she'll come around. Patience is a virtue.
