The proposal

Today, I proposed to my girlfriend of two years after eating in a 5-star restaurant. She said that she wasn't ready, and that she would walk home by herself, which she did. A homeless gentleman walked up from behind me, patted me on the back, and said, "Bitches, man." I cried. FML

I propose he might have been in the same situation before.

Just wait awhile, OP. She'll come around eventually.

You should never propose if you're not certain of the answer. Apart from that, 2 years is not long.

Dude you can't just propose out of the blue, what did you expect? How about you talk with your partner and find out if they want the same before assuming so just because you want it? It's not a small thing and if you had had any conversations about it with her you'd knew she doesn't want it. Sorry but you deserve it.

And that's why there are so many divorces. People marry before they get to know each other.

2 years is long enough to know if you want to marry someone. My husband and I got engaged a year after we met, then got married 8 months later. Of course, that may not be for everyone. But after 2 years, you should know whether or not if you want to spend a life with that person.

Awe :( try talking to her see if you can still have a relationship

In my opinion (and/or culture), marriage is something you talk about instead of ambushing the person with it.

I'd treat the homeless man to a dinner.

When it comes to marriage a woman will drop a million hints. No hints means don't ask

No substitute thing as a five star restaurant...

she honestly isn't in the wrong for not being ready yet. maybe she wants to wait a while longer. i know i've been with my boyfriend for 2 years and i in no way feel ready to get married yet.
