There tends to be a reason that people study, and I don't see why it's something to make fun of. Hopefully you only made fun in a light-friendly kind of way and not in a bullying way, especially as you said they used to be your friend.
lmfao win
Revenge of the Nerds! At one point, Bill Gates was making more in an hour than most people made in a year. Steve Jobs, on the other hand, only makes $1 a year from Apple. Sometimes those of us who sacrifice our social lives in high school and college get something in return later in life.
a dollar a year?! that can't be right!
By the way, it's pretty clear for me that you don't sacrifice your life in college when you're deciding to study instead of loosing your time. It is the life. And I live my life much better even now, while studying in university, much better than anyone who do not pay enough attention to studying. For example, our pre-exam test session starts at 20th of December and ends at 30th, while exams session starts at 8th of January and ends at 27th. Anyone, who have failed the exam in his first try, need to try it again later, so that your exam session can be way longer. If you fail your second attemt, you are pushed out from the university. Next semester starts at 7th of February, so you have about 10 days of holidays to go home. The thing is that I've already passed the whole tests and the exams, so I'm already at home, in the other city, riding my snowboard and swimming at my pool. I have 1,5 months holiday and three "A" marks for my three math's exams. Would you tell me that it is wrong - to do your best in studying? Come on, now thats you who is putting too much effort in studying, when I'm having fun.
I had a great social life in high school. Had the "nerds" tutor me on monday afternoons after practice, worked a part time job three days a week, partied with my friends the rest of the time. Did the same thing in college. Now I have a great career and plenty of free time to have fun with my family
Ran out of room... I never sacrificed my social life for studies, I just planned well and worked hard so that I could play harder. I don't understand why people believe you have to sacrifice scholastic achievement for social frivolity. You CAN do both if you manage your time and energy.
smashgrab and GDIalex, it's true you can balance your time and study effectively while having a good social life. Of course, the true "nerd" (in contrast with a conscientious and curious student) lacks the social skills to have fun even given the opportunity. That's why they appear to devote their extra time to their studies past the point where it would really help: to avoid revealing their lack of social skills. aad2307: No. It's true! Look it up. Steve Jobs actual salary from Apple is $1 a year. Of course, he owns billions in stock and has tons of stock options, plus he is the largest individual stockholder of Disney shares after he sold Pixar to them. Apple's shareholders also gave Jobs a $90 million Gulfstream V private jet, so even with his sub-minimum wage salary from Apple, he's doing OK.
you deserve it. that's what you get for making fun of people!(:
Is he banging your high school sweetheart too?

hahaha well good for him!
You ever hear of "Don't make fun of nerds cause they'll be your boss one day"? Seems like it's true.
