Things can only get better

Today, marks the 8-month anniversary of receiving my Masters degree. It also marks 8 months of depression and unemployment because the dream job in my field I was promised before graduation was rescinded due to COVID-19. FML

Obviously that job is not happening and you have to make a new plan in two parts: (1) What do you do now and short term for survival (2) What is your long term plan for your career. In the best of times, sometimes things fall though and we don’t get to do what we planned. These are tough times and a lot of people are suffering and many more are scratching by doing what they can, just to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table. And these tough times may last for much of this year or even longer. I sympathize with your disappointment, but it’s time for a new plan. Who knows, maybe you will ultimately find an even better job or maybe your “dream job” was more of a mirage than real. But there is ultimately more than one good career path, you have to concentrate on what can be instead of what never was.

sorry you're having a rough time op. also sorry that so many better established people think that your problems dont count because they feel theirs are bigger...... must be a sad existence for them to believe that they are more important than everyone else and still treated like shit.

some girl took my husband's job and his relocation offer when she hadn't worked there for a year, while my husband built that dept from the ground up. he got laid off 2 more times after that and ended up at a job that made him and me miserable. oh and btw we've been outta college 8 YEARS and can't find anything in our field. welcome to the real world.
