Today, I needed to buy a new crash helmet. I went to the motorbike shop and saw one I liked the look of. It was a bit of a tight fit, and I got my head stuck in it. I had to get the guy behind the counter to help me pull it off. My ears are still numb. FML

Why do the super tight ones always have to be the cool looking ones? Like I saw a helmet shaped like a rooster, but the **** was stuck to my head. Had to use drastic measures to take it off.

Have to vote YDI on this one. If you were getting a new helmet, unless you rode around helmetless before, I would have to safely assume that you could of found out the size of the old helmet, and go from there.

For those that say I am wrong, tell me how? If you wore a size 11 shoe, and saw a size 9 that looked good, you wouldn't try it anyway. If you wore a certain size of pants, and saw a pair you liked, but was only a few sizes smaller, you wouldn't try it anyway. Same applies with the helmet. Unless OP rode around helmetless, OP should of known what fit them, and what doesn't.

#13, 40: as good of a point as that may be, what if he just bought his first motorcycle? I just bought my first one and I had to try on helmets to see which ones fit :)

His reference to 'a new crash-helmet' implies that he had an old one... Having said that, sizes aren't all that precise especially with different manufacturers.. If I saw a helmet 1 size smaller than my old one , I'd try it on anyhow.

Different makes go on different sizes.. For example, my friend owned a XL scorpion lid.. Binned it, needed new one and went with another brand (for example let's say Shoei) and he was a XS in shoei. You wouldn't believe how much they differ.. I had a Large lid.. Fitted perfectly, went to buy a large Caberg and the thing litterly span around on my head.. So unless he got his head measured there's no way to truly know. :) (ref: I am a biker?)

I hope you don't ride a motorcycle. It is meant to be a snug fit so the helmet doesn't move relative your head.

That's what u get for being a douche and riding a motorcycle. Why don't u get an actual vehicle like the rest of society. Plus it's fun picking motorcyclists out of the grill of your truck
