Today, I got fired from a large oil and energy service company after 5 and 1/2 months. The interview process to land the job took 8 months. My interview process was longer than my job. FML

Even Google's hiring process isn't that long (well not for senior management), and you have to go for like 15 interviews with them before they will offer you a role... I find this FML really hard to believe unless you were really good at the interviews but extremely crap at your job

You're lucky to get out. Oil has no future (no long-term future especially). Peak Oil has happened, so finding more will become harder and more expensive. More oil wars are in the future unless we find another way to power our economy. Get into renewable energy. It does have a future and it will improve the world.

Yeh but you probably earning a massive salary... my mate works in the industry an hes 23 years old and earning $150,000 a year. You probably also got a severance package so no big loss.
