Unless OP was openly gay before this I don't think the classmate is necessarily being a dick. More like surprised and tactless, but aren't we all on occasion?
This seems like a story that slipped through the cracks.
When one of my classmates found out I had a boyfriend he asked what was wrong with him.
Congratulations on your new relationship! Don't let it bother you, once you finish school most of your classmates become irrelevant in your life.
Well you're a guy, and gays aren't exactly common, so unless you were super openly gay, maybe he was surprised at that, rather than the fact that you were in a relationship
Uh..gays are not uncommon or rare.
Say "Yeah. You don't?"
Today, I found out my crush had a boyfriend. In a moment of panic , I said 'Really? YOU?!' I'm never going to get her. FML
OP is a male.
The level of FML depends. Was he just surprised you are gay, which is like dumb on his part but not that big and FML, or did he just not think you were likely enough to get a boyfriend due to looks/personality/etc? Which would be an FML.

maybe he thought you would have a girlfriend?
I think there's probably a higher chance of you having a boyfriend than him having a girlfriend.
